Find Madeleine

British 4 year old Madeleine McCann was abducted from her apartment bedroom in Praia da Luz holiday village (Algarve, Portugal) on Thursday 3rd of May 2007.

There is currently a £1.5 Million reward for the safe return of Madeleine.

Arriving via Motorway

M6 (from North) — leave at Junction 30 on to M61 then follow directions from M61 below.

M6 (from North/South) — leave at Junction 21a for M62 eastbound and follow directions for M62 below.

M61 (from North) — just after Junction 3, the inside lane becomes the sliproad signposted A580 Manchester. Stay in this lane and join the A580 which then becomes the A6 signposted Salford/Manchester. Continue straight on. Ignore signs for Salford Shopping City and avoid inside lane. After underpass look out for local signs to University.

M62 (from West) — at Junction 12 carry straight on following signs for M602. Follow M602 to Junction 3 signposted Salford/Trafford Park. Keep in inside lane and turn left on to A5063 (Albion Way). Follow signposts for Salford/Pendleton. At second lights, turn left on to A6 for Frederick Road and Irwell Valley sites or right for Peel Park and Adelphi sites.

M56 (from South) — after Junction 4 stay in inside lane and come off following signs for M60 signposted Stretford, Bolton, Leeds. After passing over ship canal bridge, with Trafford Shopping Centre on right, leave M60 at Junction 12 and follow signs for M602 (see instructions for M602 above).

M60 (from East) — leave at Junction 17 signposted Prestwich and Whitefield. Turn left on to the A56 (Prestwich/Salford/Manchester). Follow into Manchester. Turn right off A56 onto A576 (Great Cheetham Street West). Straight on to second roundabout. Turn left onto A6. Avoid inside lane.

M1 (from South) — exit at Junction 42 and follow M62 westbound.

From Manchester/Salford Inner Relief Road — leave at exit for A6 Salford (Chapel Street). The University is half a mile away.

From Manchester City Centre — follow signs for Salford and then more locally signs for the University of Salford which will direct you to the A6 (Chapel Street/Crescent).

From A580 (from East) — turn left off A580 on to A5185 (Lancaster Road) and then right on to A576 (Eccles Old Road).

From A580 (from West) — turn right off A580 on to A5185 (Lancaster Road) and then right on to A576 (Eccles Old Road).

After passing the Police Station on your left look for a sign for Salford Crecent Train Station turn left here into University Road West. The road will swing round to the right and you will come to a small roundabout.

Take the first exit and proceed along University Road. The road will swing to the right and you will drop down a small hill bringing you to the entrance of Northern Car Park.

Tell security you are visiting 'Walker's Bookbinders'. They will direct you to us in the basement  of University House (Click here to download map of campus).

By Train

Inter-City services normally operate to Manchester Piccadilly. Between there and Salford Crescent Station, which is situated on the edge of the Peel Park site, there are three local trains per hour calling at Oxford Road and Deansgate en route. There are also direct trains to Salford Crescent from Manchester Victoria and from Blackpool, Southport, Lancaster, Preston, Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton, Kirkby (for Merseyside), Stockport and Chester.

From the following stations; Manchester Victoria, Piccadilly, Oxford Road to Salford Crescent. Outside Salford Crecent Station is a small roundabout, take the 12 o'clock exit and walk forward approx 200 yards. The main Broadwalk is now on your lefthand side. Turn left into it and proceed along for approx 500 yard where University House is situated on the Right Hand side.

By air

Manchester International Airport (25 minutes by train from the University) offers many direct international and UK flights. The 43 and 105 bus services link the airport with Manchester City Centre (Piccadilly Gardens stop.) From here the University of Salford is linked with a regular bus service 12, 26, X34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39.

There is a rail link between the airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Salford Crescent. Trains leave the airport for Manchester Piccadilly every 15 minutes.

By road the route from the airport is via the M56, then either M60 and M602 or A5103 and A57. Please note that a taxi journey from the airport to Salford may be subject to a cross-boundary surcharge.

BY BUS

From Stand P at Piccadilly Gardens, you can take any bus numbered 30 -39, asking for the Crescent. Alight at the University and follow signs for University House.
