PDFs ARE GREAT, aren't they?

Handy little files that anyone can read, print, extract text off, whatever - you don't need any special software to read them.

But what about creating them?

It's all very well being able to read the things from other people, but what if you have a file you are just aching to send to someone who hasn't got a copy of the program you wrote it in?

Well, there is a way. A free way. And it is as simple as printing a file out.

CutePDF (found at http://www.cutepdf.com/) allows you to create professional quality PDF files from almost any printable document. And it is totally free.

The way it works is to create for you a 'virtual printer'. So you print your file in the normal way but select 'Cute PDF' as the printer rather than the actual physical printer you use to print your documents onto paper.

When you try to print with your Cute PDF printer, instead of printing anything, it asks you to name the new PDF file it will create for you, then you choose a place for it to go (like a folder called 'PDFs') and you hit the 'Print' button.

Hey Presto, you've just created your first PDF!
